oekofinanz-21, the network for sustainable investment advice, organises its specialist events twice a year. This year’s spring conference took place in Fulda at the end of April 2024 and was dedicated to issues surrounding controversial business areas and exclusions in connection with climate change and the loss of biodiversity. FaFin made a contribution to the topic of biodiversity.
Together with Marcus Brenken, president of oekofinanz-21, and Armand Colard, Managing Partner of Austrian ESG Plus GmbH, Gesa Vögele, Managing Partner of FaFin, organised an in-depth workshop on biodiversity. The rapid loss of biodiversity had previously been the subject of presentations at the spring conference by Günther Bachmann, sustainability expert and former Secretary General of the German Council for Sustainable Development, Armand Colard, who presented the corresponding filter options of his Cleanvestdatabase, and André Höck from EB-SIM.
The in-depth workshop took up the questions from the auditorium and also addressed aspects such as the definition and geographical localisation of nature conservation areas, the European standard for sustainability reporting on biodiversity (see here on pages 142 to 164) and the links between indigenous controversies and the loss of biodiversity. Managing Director Gesa Vögele led through the workshop. She also contributed overviews of exclusion criteria and biodiversity-related products and services to the discussion, as well as a ShareAction study.
FaFin would like to thank oekofinanz-21 for the invitation and the successful spring conference!
