On 19 April 2024, Grafschafter Volksbank again hosted a high-level meeting for municipalities and municipal companies in the county of Bentheim. Under the headline ‘Impulses for a sustainable finance initiative in the county’, mayors and managing directors from the region came together.

Managing Director Markus Duscha from FaFin was involved in the conceptualisation of the event in advance in order to incorporate the experience of municipal FaFin projects relating to sustainable finance. After an introduction to the topic of sustainable finance, employees of Grafschafter Volksbank and Markus Duscha therefore presented very specific, practical solutions for the municipal level at the municipal breakfast.

The participants then worked together interactively in a kind of World Café on topics such as ‘What opportunities does a sustainable financing initiative offer for our region?’, ‘What implementation options do we have for this?’ and ‘Who and what do we need for a successful approach?’

At the end of the event, there was a very positive mood regarding the opportunities offered by sustainable finance for local authorities and municipal companies. Further steps will certainly be taken by the stakeholders in order to further advance this important topic for the sustainable development of the Grafschaft.
