The Fair Finance Institute supports targeted network building by organising workshops and events as well as by providing counselling on institution building, embedding in the ‘landscape of people’ and strategy creation.
Everything important at a glance
There are already a large number of initiatives and individual people working on more sustainable designs for parts of the financial and monetary system. In most cases, they focus on a specific aspect. Policymakers and the public, however, have hardly taken note of these activities up till now. Awareness could be significantly improved through increased cooperation in many cases.
FaFin utilises various methods to provide consultation and support for the network: Topic-centred interaction (TCI), building blocks from team and organisational development, as well as additional methods as required.
EXAMPLE CITIZENS´MOVEMENT "FINANZWENDE"
Markus Duscha co-initiated the citizens’ movement Finanzwende e.V. together with Finance Watch, Brussels, and has supported it since the beginning of 2017 by organising workshops and moderating events. He is also a founding member.
Right from the start, competent and well-known people could be won as supporters, both for the office (Gerhard Schick), on the supervisory board and among the members. These include scientists such as Martin Hellwig (former director of the Max Planck Institute for Public Goods), Peter Bofinger (member of the German Council of Economic Experts) and Rainer Lenz (director of Financ-Watch), representatives of civil society such as Christoph Bautz (chairman of the board of Campact) or Antje Schneeweiß (Südwind Institute) and Peter Eigen (founder of Transparency International) and consumer protectionists such as Axel Kleinlein (Federation of the Insured).
EXAMPLE MONEY COMPASS HEIDELBERG
In his home town, Markus Duscha coordinates the Geld-Kompass Heidelberg network. Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) of the city and region have joined forces here to coordinate and expand their activities on the topic of the financial system and sustainability.
